Perfect Grilled Burger

Ingredients:

  1. 1.33 lbs ground beef (80/20 Blend)

  2. 1/3 cup red onion, chopped finely

  3. 1 jalapeno, chopped finely (seeded for less heat)

  4. 1/2 cup reduced fat shredded cheddar cheese

  5. 1 tbsp mustard

  6. 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  7. 1/2 tsp kosher salt, divided

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

  2. While the grill is heating up, form the ground beef into patties that are about ¾ inch thick, making sure not to overwork the meat.

  3. Optional: season the burgers with your favorite seasoning blend.

  4. Once the grill is hot, place the burgers on the grill grates and cook for about 3-4 minutes per side for medium-rare to medium doneness. You can adjust the cooking time based on your preferred level of doneness.

  5. Avoid pressing down on the burgers with a spatula while they are cooking as this can cause the juices to escape, resulting in a dry burger.

  6. If adding extra cheese, place a slice on top of the burger during the last minute of cooking and close the grill lid to allow the cheese to melt.

  7. Remove the burgers from the grill and let them rest for a few minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.

  8. Optional: Toast buns for 1 minute

  9. Serve with freshly sliced tomato, lettuce and 3-4 pickles

By following these steps, you'll be able to grill a delicious and juicy burger every time. Remember to avoid overworking the meat, not to press down on the burgers while cooking, and allow them to rest before serving.
